About 3 years ago I was completely broke. I voiced my dreams of making a living writing songs to my partner at the time. Knowing I was too proud to just take money, he hatched a plot, asking me to write him a song. By that point I’d already written him a handful, but he clarified that this was one he wanted to commission. I laughed and said I’d do it for 20 bucks. He said, “But I don’t want a 20 dollar song…. I want a 100 dollar song." After some hesitation, I took his offer and wrote Loaded. It was my cheeky way of acknowledging his gesture and my honest way of showing what his love meant to me. What love in general means to me, really. Loaded is an ode to the surplus of love in my life. An affirmation that no matter the number in my bank account, I am always absolutely, unshakably Loaded.
